The concept of using a password to protect personal data was invented in the early 1960s by Fernando Corbató. After that, it became very popular in the computer field. Nowadays, smartphones use different ways to protect the data just like Touch ID (iOS), Face Unlock & Voice Unlock (Android).etc.

Using a PIN is a great way to secure your data but what would you do if someone else sees your PIN with his/her 'sneaky' eyes? Well, that person gains direct access to your personal data. To avoid such 'tragic' incidents, here's a tutorial with which you can protect your data with a PIN that changes with time. Let's kick in!

Basic Requirements:

1) A smartphone with Android 4.0+
2) DroidLock app.

Procedure:

1) Make sure you have a PIN activated on your smartphone. If you do not have a PIN activated yet, you need to do it first. (It's simple as eating a cheeseburger)

2) Go ahead and download this free app - DroidLock.apk (beta 1)
Note : this app is completely safe but it is still in its beta version so it is not available on the Play Store. You also need to check the 'unknown sources' in the Settings.

3) Open the app and read the disclaimer if you want. Now, this is an important step. Enter a Master PIN that you'll never forget. Write it somewhere if you're not sure whether you will be able to remember it or not. (In case you forget your PIN, you'll be able to reset it by using the Master PIN.)

You'll also need to type in this PIN after every reboot.

4) Set up a security question and type in your email address. In case you forget your PIN, you can reset it by answering the security question in the app.

5) Now you'll be greeted with a screen asking you to activate device administration rights. Do it. Just hit 'Activate'. If you're running Android 6.0 + you'll need to give some more permission. Done? You're good to go!

6) From here, you need to trigger up the main switch which is located just near the upper right corner. Once it is activated, you can choose any of the following options.

For example - Time PIN : Once this is activated, your PIN will change per minute. Don't worry, the PIN is pretty simple - The time. If it's 9:41 then the PIN would be '0941'.

You can also select your PIN as your battery percentage of the date or the combination of both. Just jump into GEEK. Here, you can set your PIN as a combination of different factors. You can head over to the original thread on XDA here.

Final Words

The app - DroidLock provides an amazing and more secure way to protect your Android device. This app is being developed by Chirag Galani. Just don't play around with this app. Keep it simple and easy so that you will never mess up with the PIN. I'm NOT responsible if you forget your PIN.
